Decrease of body functions may be accompanied by mental crisis: we are not needed any more The main reasons Retirement Loss of prestige Financial problems Deterioration of body and soul Somatic diseases Mourning Social isolation Putting into an elderly home Attitudes concerning elderly people changes continuously in time (these are different from society to society). Role of society is substantial in judjing the elderly people (youngsters, middle aged people, elderly! central authority ).
DEVELOPMENT OR INVOLUTION What can an elderly offer? experience (perhaps) wise looking at of the world up keepers of the collective memory (history) make real our interdependence, solidarity heritage of the past (they are who made it) help of the small-big communities What can an elderly do for itself? Old age is not the time of survival They have to face with the changes and its consequences Make sense of the further life (e.g. family, life long learning, etc.) They have to use their body and soul Influence of their own quality of life (togetherness of family)
