A területen álló vasgyár nyolcvan év üzemelés után zárta be kapuit. Három év előkészítő munkaként elkészült a teljes parka az átfogó fejlesztési terv, amely megfogalmazta az alapkoncepciót, ezután kezdték meg a park felújítását. A park tájépítészeti kialakítása szakít a két évszázados hagyományokkal. A koncepció alapelve lényege, hogy a urbánus, posztindusztriális hangulattal állítja szembe a burjánzó természettel. Értintettlenül hagyja a volt ipari építményeket, ezzel megőrizve és bemutatva a gyár egyedi hangulatát és múltját. Egyike azon első tájépítészeti törekvéseknek, amely az épített környezet és a 2kert egyensúlyát keresik, hogyan tud a természet befolyni az épületek közé, ezáltal összefüggő parkot kialakítva, az épített környezet megtartásával együtt. A program magába foglalja a terület remediálását az ipar okozta ökológiai károk helyrehozását, és az ökológiai szempont alapú tervezés segítségével sikerült megalapítani egy mára működő új élőhelyet. A rehabilitációs projektet közöségi programokkal tették teljessé és fenttarthatóvá, az építészek ezzel egy működő rekreációs területet alakítottak ki, ahova az emberek szívesen járnak, térnek vissza.
