The legal deposit regulation in Hungary First regulation in 1802: Bibliotheca Hungarica Széchényiano-Regnicolaris had to collect the printed output in Hungary according to the legal deposit law Last in 1998: government decree on legal deposit (including electronic documents)
Government decreein 1998 Publishers have to deliver 6 copies to the national library from the printed products and to the county libraries 1 copy from local publications CDs, CD-ROMs (offline electronic documents), videos, tapes, etc. (3 copies each)
Online electronic publications electronic document: a document readable only by a computer (published on CD-ROM, magnetic disc or in any other digital format) including software, which constitutes a part of the electronic document or is necessary to use it. The term : any other digital format is not unequivocal to deliver the online publications to the national library

The coverage of the Hungarian national bibliography National bibliographies should include the current national output, and where practicable they should also provide retrospective coverage (ICNBS, Copenhagen, 1998) Two parts: retrospective (1473-1945) and current part (1946-)

Retrospective conversion At present the records are available online only from 1952 A new project: records from 1926 As the retrospective conversion is going forward, the collection of the national bibliographywithin the online catalogue is becoming more and more complete
Timeliness The national bibliographical records are ready in one week after the receipt of legal deposit documents by the library. It is another question, how long it takes for publishers to deliver the documents to the national library
Necessity of a common interface It would be wonderful if all the data were published in the same database, but it might not be necessary.
