Letter from the Director October 1... Parent Portal Opening! Communications improvements at AISB. Dear Parents, In this week s message I would like to draw your attention to the following: Technology Update, School Communication Channels, Fall Trips, Car stickers. Technology Update Work continues on the A.I.S.B. web page to better integrate all of our academic and administrative programs. Faculty, parent and student portals are being tweaked to make them user friendly and informative. Our goal is for you to have all the information you need within a maximum of two clicks once you ve logged into the web site. Mike Campbell has created a HOW TO video for the MS/HS that will be available on the parent portal on Thursday September 20th. The video will describe how to navigate to the important areas of the AISB web site and how to navigate the Veracross parent page. Communication Channels The purpose of this section is to highlight the procedures for new parents and remind returning parents. You will all have received a wealth of information about AISB since the beginning of the academic year but it is often a good idea to focus upon key items from time to time and, for me, communication is definitely a key item. Academic issues: The first point of contact is the class or subject teacher. This is the same procedure for all divisions of the school. If a resolution cannot be agreed, or they are not carried out or they prove ineffective, then parents are welcome to bring the matter to the attention of the Principal. If an effective resolution cannot be found then parents should bring their concern to Jan Wood, Deputy Director, who has the overall responsibility for curriculum in AISB. Ultimately, I would be available for a final discussion if this proves necessary. However, our past track record shows to us that this is rarely necessary. Health-Related issues: The first point of contact is the school nurse. Aranka Barlay 06 26 556 079 in Building A or Sue Spencer / Petra Floszberger - 06 26 556 031 in Building B. For an exceptional situation, parents may also want to discuss the issue with the Principal. Financial Issues: The first point of contact is the Business Office Magdi Tarnóczi 06 26 556 009 Transport issues: The first point of contact is your school bus provider. You will find more detailed information in the Division Student-Parent Handbook as well as the Parent- School Association Handbook. Fall Trips All of our Fall Trips were highly successful and enjoyed very good weather. My grateful thanks to all faculty who accompanied our students as well as to the students for really taking advantage of the trips from a learning and social perspective.
Car stickers All parents have received the AISB car stickers that should be placed on car windscreens for access onto our campus. Additional stickers can be obtained from the Reception Desks in both buildings upon personal identification. Full enforcement of the sticker regulations will take>place as from Monday onwards. Jobb kommunikáció iskolánkban! Kedves Szülők! Ezen a héten az alábbi 4 témáról írok részletesebben: Technikai fejlemények, Kommunikációs Csatornák, Őszi kirándulások, Behajtási engedélyek. Technikai fejlemények A legutóbbi jelentésem óta is rendíthetetlenül dolgozunk a tanulmányi és adminisztratív jellegű programok iskolánk honlapjába való integrálásának továbbfejlesztésén. Folyamatosan fejlesztjük a tanári kar, a szülők és tanulóink portálját, annak érdekében, hogy amennyire csak lehet, felhasználóbarát és informatív legyen. Célunk, hogy bejelentkezés után legfeljebb 2 kattintással hozzáférhessenek minden szükséges információhoz. Mike Campbell készített egy útmutató videót a Middle School és a High School számára, amelyet szeptember 20-án, csütörtökön töltünk fel a szülői portálra. Ez a videó részletezi az iskola honlapján való navigálást és kitér a Veracross szülői weboldalára is. Kommunikációs Csatornák E bekezdés célja, hogy felhívjuk az új szülők figyelmét, valamint emlékeztessük a visszatérő szülőket a nálunk kialakult folyamatokra. Bizonyára rengeteg információ eljutott már önökhöz iskolánkról az év kezdete óta. Jó dolog időről időre a kulcsfontosságú témákra koncentrálni. Tanulmányi kérdések Az első személy, akihez fordulniuk kell ilyen témában az osztályfőnök vagy a tantárgyat tanító tanár. Ez mind a 4 divízióban így van. Ha nem sikerül megoldást találni, vagy az adott megoldás esetleg nem hatékony, a szülők megvitathatják a problámát a Principálissal. Ha még így sem sikerül megoldást találni, az igazgató helyetteshez Jan Wood-hoz kell fordulni az üggyel kapcsolatban. Végső soron én is elérhető vagyok vitás kérdések eldöntésében, bár a tapasztalat azt mutatja, hogy erre csak a legritkább esetben van szükség. szolgálunk a diviziós Student-Parent kézikönyvben, illetve a Parent-School Association kézikönyvben. Őszi kirándulások Mindegyik kirándulás nagyon sikeres volt, és remek időt sikerült kifogni. Örök hálám mindenkinek aki a diákokkal tartott, akárcsak maguknak a diákoknak, akik kihasználták a kirándulás nyújtotta szociális és tanulási lehetőségeket. Behajtási engedélyek Az autó szélvédőjére szánt matricákat - melyek az iskolába való behajtást teszik lehetővé eljuttattuk minden szülőnek. Hétfőtől kezdve a matricák nélkül behajtani szándékozók igazolványát el fogják kérni a biztonsági őrök. További matricákat mindkét épület recepcióján igényelhetnek szükség esetén személyazonosságuk igazolása után. Kívánom a legjobbakat! Dear AISB Community, AISB is in need of a new Booster Club Team Leader to help organize and guide the booster club in various events that coincide with AISB Sports and Activities for students in grades 6-12. The role of the Booster Club is to support AISB Sports & Activities throughout the year by primarily selling concessions and spirit wear at home events. The Booster Club team leader liaisons with the Athletic Director and Activity Coordinators to organize support initiatives, concessions, and promotion of these programs. Design Week What: Budapest Design Week is held every fall citywide and is open to both the public and the design industry, attracting over 60,000 people annually. This year s event, the eighth in succession, will take place between September 28th and October 7th. The slogan of the 2012 program is 'Slow Design', featuring designers and artworks focusing on cultural, social and economic sustainability. Design Terminal's newly opened building on Erzsébet Square hosts the festival-opening exhibition. As part of the program each year the Design Week showcases the works of designers participating in the Hungarian Design Awards. It also welcomes a star designer to present at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest. Several exhibitions, conferences and fashion shows are on the schedule by a wide range of Hungarian and international designers. The Open Studios initiative, one of last year s most successful programs, is also on the schedule again, with new participants and featured programs for 2012. Open Studios, a successful initiative by Design Terminal, opens the doors of 14 Hungarian design workshops to the general public. The aim is to introduce the work of featured Hungarian designers through real world examples. While design is no longer in its infancy in Hungary, the organizers find it important to bring awareness to the work processes, the technical background and the tricks of the trade. The Open Studios initiative is also an opportunity for designers to interact with visitors, answer questions, and provide an insight into their daily activities. This year's guest country is Finland. To present the many shades of contemporary Finnish design the famous Fiskars Design Village, a unique community of artists and designers, comes to Budapest. Design Week Gastro brings unique food design projects into the series of events with special Design Week delicacies that are available only during the ten days of the event. This year also sees the revival of the popular Design Tour program, which focuses on historical and contemporary wonders of downtown Budapest. Tours are led by art historians, taking visitors to venues that are closed to the general public. In 2012, as part of the tradition, 72 shops, showrooms, designer workshops and galleries will offer their products at a 20% discount during the 10-day event.

This year s display will focus on a few words taken from the Hungarian Anthem: with good cheer and prosperity.
