Dear Participant, Greeetings / Köszöntők On behalf of the Board of Directors of Hungarian Medical Association of America, it is with the greatest pleasure that I welcome you to FÜRED2014, the summer conference organized for the sixth year in a row by the Hungary Chapter of our Society. I have no doubt that this year s meeting will be another great success in the tradition of prior conferences. I encourage you to take advantage of this unique program and learn from all the talented and motivated young faculty, residents, and medical students who possibly like yourself will present their clinical, translational, and research from our 4 medical schools of the country and beyond. This is indeed a superb opportunity for networking, building collaborations, and strengthening the connection between Hungarian medical professionals across the Atlantic. We should remember that the origins of FÜRED2014 go back to a small group of devoted alumni who graduated from of the HMAA student exchange at SUNY Buffalo Medical School, a highly appreciated project that is unique in its offerings to foreign medical students in the United States. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Hungary Chapter s leadership and all the conference organizers for putting together another great agenda for this year, both for the scientific and the social events. Dear Guests, Colleagues, all who participate in this Congress Ladies and Gentlemen As president of this Congress it is my honor to greet you all who participate at this meeting of the Hungarian Chapter of the Hungarian Medical Association of America (the HMAA) here at Balatonfured. This Meeting is our eighth. The presentations cover such a wide field of medical knowledge of 2014 that I call this meeting interdisciplinary. At this point I should be repetitious to the former presidents by expressing the hope that the presentations should not only widen the wisdom of those present but shall awake the desire for new research and help to amalgamate professional collaboration in mutual areas. We certainly hope that the scientific information will not be worded here only but new acquaintances, exchange of local experiences will enrich a concerted result. Last but not least at this beautiful surrounding of the Lake Balaton, the nectars coming from the hillside products and the social programs should be such a pleasant memory for you that you will return for the meetings in the years to come. Our congress became one of the region s largest medical students' conferences dedicated to multidisciplinary studies. The two-day congress aims to provide mainly medical students and professionals an excellent platform for the exchange of clinical and scientific knowledge on the latest developments and emerging challenges of this field. The congress will feature an exciting line-up of expert speakers including top practitioners, opinion leaders and researchers from Hungary. Similarly to the previous years' experiences, host of networking opportunities is also planned for all participants, including waterpolo game, waffle party, numerous discussions and workshops. This year we also launch a special networking possibility in which professionals working in the same field and medical students from the same university can meet and build collaborations and friendships. Neurofarmacology and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease will be the main focuses of the meeting besides the multidisciplinary sessions. Az elõadásokat csak Power Pointban (ppt formátumban) kérjük elhozni pendrive-on is, melyek feltöltésére a konferencia előtt legkésőbb 2 nappal a tájékoztatóban elküldött elektronikus módon szükséges (csak.ppt formátumban, az új verzók nem megfelelőek!). Az előadókat kérjük, hogy szekciójuk előtt 15 perccel jelenjenek meg a kiirt előadóban. Minden előadó igazolást kap a konferencia utolsó napján, melyet a regisztrációs pulttól lehet elvinni. Előadás módjai: Szóbeli prezentáció (7 perc) vagy hagyományos poszter (5 perc elmagyarázás és 2 perc diszkusszió, poszter méret: 120 cm magas és 90 cm hosszú). A diákok szállásának, tandíjának, és biztosításának ügyintézését a HMAA intézi, a sikeres HAESF pályázat (Hungarian Americal Enterprise Scholarship Fund) a költségeket fedezi. A HAESF által nyújtott ösztöndíjat külön kell megpályázni (Professional Internship program; www.haesf.org). A cseregyakorlatra ötödévesen kell jelentkezni. A hallgatók bármely hatodéves gyakorlatot kint tölthetik, amelyet a magyar egyetemek elfogadnak. Négy turnusban lehet kiutazni (júliusszeptember, október-december, január-március, április-június), turnusonként négy hallgató vehet részt a gyakorlaton és szállhat meg az orvosszövetség apartmanjában.
