Bemutatták Eugenio Barba új könyvét a Nemzeti Színházban 2015. április 11. szombat, 16:03 Könyvbemutatón ismerhették meg az érdeklődők Eugenio Barba olasz rendező Hamu és gyémánt országa című új könyvét a Nemzeti Színházban. Eugenio Barba s new book has been presented in National Theater Those interested, in National Theater, could get to know The Land of Ashes and Diamonds the book written by the Italian director Eugenio Barba. Vidnyánszky Attila, a Nemzeti Színház főigazgatója a szombati könyvbemutatón elmondta: a Nemzeti Színház Kiskönyvtárának első kiadványaként megjelenő kötet méltó indítása a sorozatnak. A kötet első részében Barba lengyelországi tanulmányairól és mesterével, Jerzy Grotowskival való kapcsolatáról ír, második része pedig Grotowski 26 hozzá írt levelét tartalmazza. Attila Vidnyászky, chief managing and artistic director of National Theater said: this paperback volume is a worthy starter of a serial called the Mini-Library of National Theater. The first half of the volume is about the apprenticeship of Barba in Poland and of the connection with his master Jerzy Grotowski while in the second part one can read 26 letters of Grotowski to Barba. During the book presentation Barba recalled when, as an enthusiastic young communist, he decided to go to Poland, he imagined it should be a Paradise and how, in a few months, he has been disillusioned of the regime, and still, how much learning he could get there. The theater is continuation of politics by other means, this remained my credo. Well, though I am not a communist at all but still I struggle against injustice as I did when I was young. And in this struggle the theater is a solution for me. he asserted. Among others he is grateful for his experiences in Poland because although I got to be disenchanted of the socialism quite fast, but at the same time I got the right vaccine that made me immune against any kind of ideology. Having been expelled from Poland, ha wanted to make real theater but he didn t get job, so he founded his own company called he up the 1964 outset of Odin Teatret.

Egy 1985-ös bécsi fellépésünkön két métert foglaltam el: a két néző apa és fia volt, a fiú most éppen itt ül mellettem utalt Regős Jánosra, a Szkéné Színház volt művészeti vezetőjére, akinek meghívására az Odin Színház 1985-től kezdve többször vendégszerepelt Magyarországon, és aki a most megjelent kötet első részének fordítását is jegyzi. In doing theater one has to pace from meter to meter like a soldier. One meter corresponds to one spectator. In a Vienna performance I took two meters: the two spectators were father and his son, and the son is sitting now right beside me. referred to János Regős, former artistic leader of Szkéné Theater who invited the Odin Theatret to Hungary first in 1985 and then many more times and who is the translator of the first half of this book. According to András Pályi, writer, theater historian, translator of the Grotowski s letters in the book, the story of a movingly nice friendship unfolds here that lasted until up to the death of the Polish director in the end of the 90 s. Pályi thinks that although the influence of Grotowski was enormously big on Hungarian theater life, there is no chance of any direct continuation of what he did. One thing that can still be continued: that ruthless and relentless, permanently self-questioning thinking that led him all along his carrier. This can lead some other artists as well but as a result finaly h/she may arrive in some different type of a theater. he added.
Grotowski vendégségben Barba holstebrói színházában (1971) fotó: Odin Teatret, nemzetiszinhaz.hu Eugenio Barba felidézte a Grotowski széleskörű ismertségéhez vezető magyar szálat is. Eugenio Barba recalled the Hungarian thread that has helped Grotowski up to the world fame. Ferenc Hont the theater aesthete came to us in Poland in 1962 and he saw one of our performances. He said to Grotowski: this way of acting is formalistic and we in Hungary are against the formalism. And then he asked him to write a book about his method that they should publish in Hungarian in order to inform the young Hungarian directors about what they must not do in theater. Grotowski has taken the request, and then asked me to write the book. So the first book on him has been born first in French, then in Italian and Hungarian translation which contributed quite much to make him known. recalled Barba.
Több rangos nemzetközi díj tulajdonosa, a világ számos egyetemének tiszteletbeli doktora. Magyarul eddig két könyve jelent meg, a Kísérletek színháza 1965-ben, a Papírkenu 2001-ben látott napvilágot.
