Disturbing the Sleep of the World F r e u d - s y m p o s i u m 22-24 th june 2006 The Austrian Cultural Forum of Budapest is organizing the symposium Disturbing the Sleep of the World on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sigmund Freud. This international seminar subjecting the activities of the father of psychoanalysis to extensive, interdisciplinary examination, represents one of the key events in the Freud jubilee year. Lectures by speakers (psychoanalysts, psychologists, historians, philosophers and literary figures) from Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Great Britain present many different aspects of the history of psychoanalysis and its scientific, philosophical, social and cultural embeddedness while also extending to questions about the relevance of Freud and 21st century perspectives on psychoanalysis. The fact that Budapest alongside Vienna played the most crucial role in the early history of psychoanalysis lends particular significance to the symposium. Sándor Ferenczi, founder of the Hungarian Psychoanalytical Association (1913) and a close colleague, friend and corresponding partner of Sigmund Freud, worked in Budapest. It is from here that the Budapest school of psychoanalysis was launched, which continues to exert an influence on the international psychoanalytical movement to this very day. The conference will contribute to the strengthening of long-established Austrian-Hungarian intellectual and cultural ties as well as the revival of international interest in psychoanalysis in this anniversary year and beyond. Felr á zni álmából a vil ágot F r e u d - s z i m p ó z i u m 2006. június 22-24. A Felrázni álmából a világot című szimpóziumot Sigmund Freud születésének 150. évfordulója alkalmából rendezi meg a budapesti Osztrák Kulturális Fórum. A nemzetközi szimpózium a Freud év egyik kiemelkedő eseménye, amelyen a pszichoanalízis megalapítójának munkássága sokoldalú, interdiszciplináris megvilágításra kerül.
