OF BIRTOKOS ESET (of-genitive)

OF BIRTOKOS ESET (of-genitive) - Nem csak személy állhat birtokos jelzői szerepben. Sokszor a birtokos egy tárgy, fogalom. Az angolban ilyenkor az of elöljárószóval jelöljük a birtokost. Felépítése pl. the colour of the table (= az asztalnak a színe) - Ilyenkor az angolok előbb elmondják, mi a birtok (pl. a színe), és csak aztán jelölik meg a birtokost (pl. az asztalnak)! A magyarban is lehet így megalkotni a birtokosjelzős szerkezetet, de ez ritkán fordul elő, mi általában előbb a birtokosjelzőt mondjuk ki, és csak aztán a birtokszót. pl. a színe az asztalnak = az asztalnak a színe Amikor tehát a magyar birokosjelzős szerkezetet lefordítjuk, ilyenkor előbb azt figyeljük, mi a birtok, mert azt kell előbb kimondanunk, és aztán kapcsoljuk of-fal a birtokost! pl. a háznak (birtokos) birtok + OF + birtokos (valamije) (valaminek) az ablakai (birtok) the windows (birtok) of the house (birtokos) - Továbbra is igaz, hogy a magyarban sokszor elhagyjuk a jellemző -nak a / -nek a ragot, az angolban viszont jelölnünk kell a birtokost az of-fal! pl. a háznak az ablakai = a ház ablakai the windows of the house (mindkét esetben) Mikor használjuk? A legfontosabb esetek: a) ha a birtokos élettelen dolog, fogalom, vagy állat (amit nem tekintünk családtagnak): pl. a ház falai = the walls of the house egy tárgy a birtokos a tigris színe = the colour of the tiger egy állat a birtokos az élet nagy kérdései = the big questions of life egy fogalom a birtokos

b) ha hosszabb szerkezettel kifejezett személy a birtokos pl. annak a lánynak a haja, akit láttál = the hair of the girl that you saw a birtokosnak olyan jelzője van, amelyet külön mellékmondatban fejtünk ki Többszörös birtoklás kifejezése Ha egyidejűleg több birtokos szerkezetet akarunk egybefonni (a birtokosnak is van birtokosa), akkor az of -szerkezetet használjuk, és hátulról előre haladva göngyöljük fel a kavalkádot. pl. nagymama 1. macskájának 2. a farka 3. the tail 3. of the cat 2. of Granny 1. Ha az utolsó egységként szereplő birtokos kifejezhető s-genitive-vel, akkor ezt (de csak ezt az utolsót) helyettesíthetjük az s genitive-vel pl. Nagymama macskájának a farka the tail of the cat of Granny Mivel a nagyi személy, a birtoklás s-birtokos jelzővel is kifejezhető: Granny s cat Az egész szerkezet tehát: the tail of Granny s cat Ügyeljünk arra, hogy egyszerre csak egy s-birtokos jelző lehet a szerkezetben (ami az egésznek a legvégén szerepel)! pl. Joe húgának a barátja Ha külön-külön megalkotnánk a birtokos jelzős szerkezeteket: Joe húga = Joe s sister a húg barátja = the sister s friend Csakhogy nem szerepelhet mindkét s-birtokos jelző (* Joe s sister s friend)! Ezért az ofbirtokos jelzőt használjuk a szerkezet felépítésére (ehhez pedig hátulról előre haladunk, és csak a Joe húga kifejezést mondjuk s-birtokos jelzővel.)
