ABOUT ME I am Art Director and future designer from Munich, living in Barcelona. I recently finished my masters in Design for Emergent Futures at the Institute of Advanced Architecture Catalonia in cooperation with ELISAVA, exploring the role of new technologies in the near future and learning how to tackle emergent societal challenges through future forecasting and the design of interventions. Before I decided to study design, I was a semi-professional musician and also collected a lot of work experience all over the world, like China, the US and several countries in Europe. I composed music and managed projects for big companies such as Volkswagen or FC Bayern supporting their media appearance and represented our firm abroad. During my studies, I expended my knowledge in a lot of areas like art direction, graphic design, interface and multimedia, AI and machine learning, computer science, programming, production and biology. The attendance of Fab Academy 2019 complemented the master, giving me complete knowledge of prototyping through digital fabrication and a deeper understanding of the makers culture. The master and the Fab Academy combined allowed me to gain a holistic perspective on the development and production processes behind new and future technologies and understanding of how these processes could be applied in different scales. Through my work, I had the chance to participate in a high variety of projects. I was part of creating a book, producing a documentary movie and organizing a multi-artist concert series in Paris, London, Berlin and New York City. Besides these experiences in professional areas, I always had a high interest in technological and industrial developments. I am always eager to hear about new acquisitions that tackle the challenges of our society, economy and environment. The experience in the master showed me a new way to work with innovation, one that is mindful of the context and caring of the process. In the future, I see me being part of a project or company, to enrich the community and society with products and services. I want to focus on the topics politics, education, socio-economics, social interaction, urban living and especially emerging technologies. I am always looking for new challenges and exciting projects. Here you will find my portfolio with a selection of works: gabormandoki.com Here you will find some reference music: Soundcloud 3

MUSICROOM app & interface design concept Experience music like never before! Musicroom offers a new path off the beaten track to discover and enjoy music on a whole new level. Enter the rooms and experience what it means to enjoy music. You will find tracklists compiled by curators perfectly fitting to every room, backgrounds and history to the artists and their songs and a place to philosophize about songs and albums with your friends. Musicroom is an app concept as part of my thesis. My goal was to connect our most essential aspects from the past to the digital era of music today. Visual impressions shared listening and discovery. The main focus of this work was photography, interface design and app-prototyping. 5

PHONE FARM (ING) master project Phone Farm(ing) utilises idle sensor data and processor capacity of our phones while reducing their negative effect on social interaction. The network of farm-stations will provide safe storage and charging for phones whilst harvesting sensor data and processing power. These sources work towards an open source cloud database and computing network. Stations will be placed in social spaces like clubs, bars and restaurants. Many studies have shown that the excessive use of smartphones in daily life harms our face to face interaction. Phone Farm(ing) creates a positive incentive to reduce the presence of devices in social interactional spaces by building an infrastructure of farm-stations where people can securely store their phones for the time of their visit and enjoy an undistracted time with their friends. In the meantime, the sensor data of the phone collected during the day is shared to a databse, and the processing capacity is used for a cloud computing network. This system allows communal, educational and art projects to benefit from a collectively distributed computing capacity as well the wide variety of sensor data today phone can provide. Some examples would be extraterrestrial search, renderings, machine-learning calculations, infrastructure improvements, computing for rural regions or holographic simulations. The network will be built on the blockchain technology to guarantee a decentralized, transparent and secure system. Additionally, a token will be emitted for the ecosystem around Phone Farm(ing). Farmers can earn Attention Coins for leaving their devices in the stations. These coins can be redeemed for a discount on a dinner or a free drink. An alternative is to assign the tokens to a project the farmer would like to support as the runners (project developers) have to purchase space on the system with these tokens. In this way, the farmer decides in an absolute democratic way which projects can use the resources he provides. Phone Farm(ing) is a concept to create a new use of personal devices while democratizing access to sensor data and computing power for all of us. Emerging technologies and capacities will demand and share more resources at the same time. Phone Farm (ing) not only motivates you to spend less time on your phone while having social interactions but also shares available resources to the community for a greater good. * Logo sympolic for collective intelligence phonefarm.eu 7

SMART ALARM product design This smart speaker is designed to be on your nightstand. It will help you to fall asleep as well as to wake up. The goal of this concept is to make the presence of the smartphone unnecessary in the bedroom. It provides all the features we got used to. A little OLED screen shows the time and only lights up when you wave your hand over the speaker. The control elements are limited to gesture, one knob and voice. The speaker wakes you up, based on your sleep. You can decide beforehand if you want to wake up to music, a news podcast or just an alarm sound or soundscape. A selection of audiobooks and podcasts are stored. On request, one of the audiobooks or podcasts is played. Additionally, you can also listen to soundscapes like rain, wind or waves. The integrated sleep monitor automatically turns off the sound as soon as you fall asleep. 9

EMANUEL PROJECT speculative design concept * Emanuel chatbot based on Mycroft & WolframAlpha Emanuel is an AI assistant, that builds an infrastructure helping you to gather and manage information about your everyday life - in the right spot and the right context. It gives you a new tool to make you aware of your habits, their imapct, and what is happening in your direct surrounding. Different pillars like ML for analysing your routine and sources, software like the Emanuel app and hardware that lets you access the Emanuel environment are carrying the infrastructure. Emanuel can be asked questions about specific topics and can be challenged. Start a discussion, ask for more details, dive in deeper or ask for a different perspective. In this project, I developed the concept and built prototypes with a Raspberry Pi, an open source AI assistance like Snips and Mycroft and Telegram chatbot. 11

TRIP & PLANT app concept Ever thought about how big your ecological footprint is after having a trip with a plain? Ever wished you could do something about it? Trip & Plant helps you to calculate the caused emission of your trip and helps you to donate money to organizations who are planting trees to save our planet. I made the app concept and designed the interface. 13

WWF WITHOUT CAMPAIGN print - & poster campaign In this campaign, the acute problem of overfishing of the oceans is addressed and serves to educate. The idea of the campaign is to compare empty oceans with exaggerated situations from everyday life - according to the statement: A Sea Without Fish Is Only Water The motifs support the respective claim by displaying the designated scenarios. This campaign is posted as part of a term paper. Concept and art direction come from me. The following claims have been developed: A Gallery without Art is only a Room A City without People is only a Landscape A Street without Cars is only Tar A Sky without Stars is only Darkness 17
FAB ACADEMY How to make almost everything The Fab Academy was part of my master Design for Emergent Future, as the IAAC university is placed together with the Fab Lab of Barcelona in one building. Fab Academy is a hands-on focused, rapid prototyping and digital fabrication course. I got in touch with laser cutting, CNC, 3D printing, programming, electronic design, 3D design, Arduino and Raspberry Pi boards, sensors etc. This course was very inspirational also to leave the screen and to explore the relationship between bits and atoms. 18
