These bible studies were held on Wednesdays between 11 AM and 12:30 PM. During each meetings we had fellowship with a light lunch, usually a home made soup, salad, dessert and beverages. We hope to continue these bible studies during the year and to see many of you at these educational opportunities that enables us to deepen our knowledge in God and to strengthen our faith in the Lord Jesus. We encourage you to look for the dates of future bible studies in your bulletins and to come by and bring a friend along with your Bible.. A Húsvét előtti böjti időszakban gyülekezetünk részt vett egy bibliaóra sorozatban, amely a keresztyény hitről és a keresztényi fegyelmezettségről szólt. A szerda délelőttönként megtartott foglalkozásokon volt alkalmunk jobban megismerni luteránus és presbitáriánus testvéreinket, majd a bibliaórát egy ízletes ebéddel zártuk.tervezünk a jövőben is bibliaórákat tartani, amire szeretettel hivunk és várunk mindenkit. Amalia Prundl 4 Sponsors 5 Annual Assembly of the Eastern Classis Poetry Reading 6 At the end of March, the annual classis meeting took place this year in Bethlehem, PA. It was a great opportunity to visit a beautiful, traditional Hungarian Church in the historic Bethlehem. We all enjoyed the unique hospitality of Rev. Hari, who not only fed the people with a delicious five course Hungarian meal, but with a nourishing spiritual food of the Prodigal Son. In his message he focused on the older brother, that questioned the forgiving father, reminding us how often we fail to recog- nize the lost sheep among us.
Page 2 Az evangélizáció új, mai formáinak megtalálása és kidolgozása Imádkozzunk bátorságért, bölcsességért és kitartásért! A megváltozott világban meg kell találnunk az evangélium hirdetésének újabb és újabb lehetőségeit és formáit. Az Újszövetségben szép példáját látjuk annak a sokszínűségnek, ahogy a Jézus Krisztusról szóló egyetlen örömhírt az egyház egy Lélekben hirdette meg. Pál apostol Efézusban végzett szolgálata vezet minket egyházunk megújulásáért való imádságunkban ezen a héten: Azután eljárt a zsinagógába, ahol három hónapon át bátran szólt, vitázott, és igyekezett meggyőzni őket az Isten országának dolgairól. Amikor pedig egyesek ellenálltak és nem hittek, sőt gyalázták az Úr útját az egész nép előtt, otthagyta őket, a tanítványokat is távol tartotta tőlük, és mindennap egy Tirannosz nevű ember iskolájában tanított. Ez két éven át tartott, úgyhogy mindazok, akik Ázsiában laktak, meghallották az Úr igéjét, mind a zsidók, mind a görögök." (ApCsel 19,8 10),,Pál vitázott és meggyőzésre törekedett a zsinagógában, valamint a pogányok között is. Imádkozzunk bátorságért! Az apostol bátran szólt, ami nem más, mint a Szentlélek jelenlétéből fakadó szabadság, őszinteség, nyíltság, amellyel az ellenséges körülmények között is félelem vagy szégyen nélkül tett bizonyságot Jézus Krisztusról. Adja Isten Lelke mindannyiunknak azt az erőt, amely szükséges az evangélium hirdetéséhez. Imádkozzunk bölcsességért! Pál vitázott és meggyőzésre törekedett a zsinagógában, valamint a pogányok között is. Kérjünk Istentől olyan elhívott embereket, akik tőle való világossággal és bölcsességgel tudják megfogalmazni az evangéliumot az élet legkülönbözőbb területein. Imádkozzunk kreativitásért, újonnan felismert ötletekért az evangélizáció mai formáinak keresésében. Pál apostol egy pogány tanító, Tirannosz iskoláját bérelte, hogy ott tanítsa Isten Igéjét. Imádkozzunk kitartásért! Pál apostol két éven át hűségesen hirdette az evangéliumot Efézusban. Adja meg Isten a kitartás ajándékát akkor is, amikor új utakat keresünk abban, hogy bizonyságot tegyünk Jézus Krisztusról. Adjunk hálát az evangélium hatalmáért! Sokan meghallották Ázsiában az Úr Igéjét, és sokan követői is lettek. Ne feledjük el, hogy az evangélium Isten ereje mindenkinek, aki hisz benne (Róm 1,16). Page 3 Knowing, Waiting, Wanting the Lord Matthew 25:8-10 (NIV) 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' 9 "'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' 10 "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. During the week before the crucifixion, Jesus told several parables about His return to the earth. Our passage today is from the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. Five had brought plenty of oil. Five did not bring enough to last until the groom came for them. While they were waiting, the foolish virgins ran out of oil. They asked the wise virgins to share their oil, but they sent them to buy more for themselves. While they were away buying oil, the groom came. The five wise were let into the marriage banquet, and the others were locked out. When they knocked on the door, the groom replied that he did not know them. Five had The expression of not knowing someone is found earlier when some try to enter heaven (Matthew 7:22-23). In that passage, Jesus says they never fed, clothed or visited Him in jail. He was referring to things done to the least of His brothers as being the same as doing it to Him. Comparing these two teachings we could relate the oil to a life yielded to the Holy Spirit. He is the One who sheds light upon our path. The Scripture makes the simile of oil and the Holy Spirit. Some lives are so yielded to the Spirit that they serve God continually without even consciously being aware of it. Their thoughts are set upon the desire of the Spirit and controlled by the Spirit (Romans 8:5-6). You can't give that to some- brought plenty of oil. Five did not bring enough to last one. Each of us must individually seek that from God. Many of the parables of the return of Christ imply that He will come at a time that no one suspects. Many will be taken off guard, while others will be waiting expectantly. Are you waiting? Is your life full of oil? Continue to ask for more of your life to be filled with the Holy Spirit, available to serve others at His leading. Consider: Whether we live to see His Second Coming or die before that event, we should live every day as if it were our last. Let us all prepare the room for Him in our heart as He is preparing a room for us in the kingdom of God.
Page 4 Amalia T. Prundl 93, of Carteret, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at home. She was born in Budapest, Hungary and had lived in Carteret for most of her life. She was a Saying Good - Bye member of the Hungarian American Citizens Club in Woodbridge. Amalia was predeceased by her husband, Anthony A. Prundl; her daughter, Erzsebet and her grandson, George Jr. She is survived by her son, George M. Prundl and his wife, Gabriella of Montague; her daughter, Zsuzsanna Jobbagy and her husband, Geza of Ocala, Florida; her six grandchildren, Michael, Douglas, Christina, Susan Hartmann, Julie Matisz and Mary Branker; and her 13 great grandchildren. ordination worship service on May 31st Ordination Felszentelés The congregation of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Carteret will celebrate Pastor Tamas Devecseri s ordination worship service on May 31st 2014, at 1PM. Hungarian Heritage Day May 10. 12PM For the first time our congregation celebrated the language of God, poetry in our beloved sanctuary. On March 2nd of this year the members of our church and guests from other congregations worshipped God in a combined English and Hungarian worship service, which was followed bz a potluck style lunch. After tasting the different types of home made dishes, the fans of poetry gathered in our sanctuary to recite many emotional poems in Hungarian and in English. Poetry Reading Versmondó Délután Egyházunknál első alkalommal került megrendezésre a versmondó délután. Március 2.-án, vasárnap egy összevont angol és magyar Istentiszteletet tartottunk.az Istentisztelet után szeretetvendégséget rendeztünk, amelyen finom otthon készült ételeket osztottunk meg egymással.ebéd után a verskedvelők a templomban szavalták el kedvenc verseiket angolul és magyarul.
