Mayer (PROGIS Software Ltd, Austria) The food insecurity situation is effected by global warming, population growth, focus on bio-energy, low technology acceptance, unfavourable policies, sustainability criteria, changing natural risk-situation, subsidies etc. Sustainability-, agriculture-, forestry- and environmental targets belong together and influence each other. Therefore we need new types of ICT based land management, covering protection of land and biodiversity, ensuring sustainable management based on multipurpose use of land, optimising economical benefits and taking into consideration land use potential and its carrying capacity. ICT technologies, integrating local and science based expert data, easy to use software and manageable precision farming technologies will be essential to achieve sustainable bettering. Large and small farms must have access to know-how, equipment and technologies to optimise food/wood production processes to reach nutritional- and/or biomass targets. We summarize subsequent the benefits of integrated technologies where farmers, advisors, contractors, supply chains, industries and consumers are integrated: GIS gives detailed information on size and location of fields - base for calculation and logistics. Farm management tools allow cultivation planning, documentation (also 1

2 GLOBALGAP), nutrient- and CO ² -balance, cost calculations and provide information for trust centers or farm advisory services. Logistic solutions with central and mobile GIS systems allow planning of complete regions and serves farmers, food-industries and contractors. Meteo-data allow better decisions. Business-plans assist cooperation with banks and insurance companies. Machine interfaces allow the set up of precision or virtual farming solutions for groups of users, further statistical analysis for regions or countries and a possible upgrade with forest- or environmental caretaking solutions are supported. Risk management solutions can help to better defining and measuring farmer s integration into environmental caretaking. We canl show solutions and discuss the requirements technological and organizational - to use these technologies. Bernard Pacher (Executive Manager, ADCON Ltd., Austria) tbc. As one of the largest dedicated GIS companies in Europe, Infoterra is covering the whole value chain in geoinformation business including airborne and satellite data acquisition, processing, interpretation and distribution, and development and implementation of complete GIS solutions as well. Infoterra Hungary, as a part of Spot Infoterra is paying an important role in Infoterra businesses. In the past years it was continuously expanding, and successfully opened new capabilities, e.g. Lidar processing, 3D modelling, landcover mapping and software development in addition to photogrammetric and professional digital mapping services. Infoterra Hungary aims to deliver the innovative GIS products and solutions of Infoterra to the Hungarian market. All the environmental process takes place in space, therefore, if the decomposed parts of our environment available information, the GIS of relations examined. The Hungarian GNSS reference station infrastructure. Services and applications. Tamás Horváth, Head of GNSS Service Centre, FÖMI SGO Satellite positioning has become a ubiquitous technology of the 21 st century. In car navigation, precision agriculture, monitoring the transport of dangerous goods, high precision landing of aircrafts are just a few examples of a wide range of applications that rely on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Satellite technology also revolutionised land surveying, mapping and high-precision positioning, greatly multiplying productivity over traditional methods. High accuracy requirements of these fields can only be met using relative positioning techniques, where user position is determined with respect to the well known position of one or more reference stations. Such a GNSS reference station infrastructure is operated in Hungary by the Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing (FÖMI). The GNSSnet.hu network consists of 54 stations, which deliver observation data to a computing centre in real time. Central data processing utilises sophisticated satellite orbit, atmospheric, signal propagation, etc. modelling in order to generate highly accurate reference information. This is then used by FÖMI s clients working in all parts of the country in either real time or in post processing mode. Most of the Hungarian land surveying enterprises are already among FÖMI s registered clients. However it is not only the geodetic user community, which benefits from the GNSS service. Auto-steering of agricultural tractors and combine harvesters requires accurate position information. A growing number of farmers decided to use GNSSnet.hu services for this task. The Hungarian Railways (MÁV) has also 3

4 chosen FÖMI s network RTK service to build their country-wide Geographic Information System. Numerous water management directorates, forestry enterprises and environmental protection organisations also use this technology during their daily routine operation. The cooperation between EUMETSAT and OMSZ Presenter: Ildikó Dobi, Head of International Relations, OMSZ The Hungarian Meteorological Service is representing Hungary in EUMETSAT since the year 1999, when the country became cooperating member of the Organization. Since then, in 2008, Hungary gained full membership in EUMETSAT. This means that the country takes part in the decision-making processes, and is able to benefit fully from the satellite missions that EUMETSAT provides. In the presentation, we are going to introduce the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and the satellite missions it operates. The main purpose of EUMETSAT is, however, to deliver weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the member and cooperating states in Europe, as well as to other users world-wide. The OMSZ has developped fruitful cooperation with the Organization in the last 10 years. The forecaster s work is largely based on the satellite images provided by EUMETSAT every 15-minutes, or even every 5-minutes in the summer season, which is a big asset for weather monitoring. Besides, the OMSZ is not only a user of the satellite data provided, but also participates in the development of satellite products in the frame of the Satellite Application Facilities (SAFs). The presentation will both describe the use of satellite data in OMSZ s operational practice, and the work carried out in the SAF projects. A KEO rendszer Az európai földmegfigyelési integráció útján KEO System Integrating European Earth Observation Solutions Fülöp Györk, Hargitai Péter, Szigeti Ildikó, GeoAdat Kft. Napjaink globális tendenciái, válsághelyzetei felhívják figyelmünket az átláthatóság szükségességére. A földmegfigyelési eszköztár alkalmas arra, hogy környezetünkrıl globális méretekben, de helyi szinten objektív adatokat szerezhessünk be, lehetıvé téve a természeti, gazdasági és társadalmi környezet minél teljesebb körő vizsgálatát. Európai Uniós szerepvállalásunk feltételezi az európai tervezési folyamatokba történı becsatlakozásunkat is, amely az egyre pontosabb monitoring folyamatokon kell alapuljon. 4

5 Az ESA (European Space Agency Európai Őrügynökség) ismeret-orientált föld megfigyelési rendszere (KEO) jelenleg a világ legnagyobb nyilvános távérzékelési adatfeldolgozó rendszere. A KEO rendszer egy modulokból álló és bıvíthetı adatfeldolgozó környezet, amely célja, hogy: megkönnyítse a hozzáférést a földmegfigyelési adatokhoz és az azokból kinyert információkhoz szélesebb eszköztárat nyújtson a földmegfigyelési adatok feldolgozásához (ezzel csökkentve a különbséget az adatok és a kinyert információk között) növelje a földmegfigyelési adatok felhasználói körét azzal, hogy támogatja és automatizálja a megfelelı adatok kinyerését a megfelelı felhasználók számára. A KEO fejlesztésében az ESA hangsúlyozottan támaszkodik a fejlesztések többpólusú kivitelezésére. Az egyes nemzeti ügynökségek, és a helyi kutatócsoportok közös tudásbázisára alapozva az Európai Őrstratégia hatékonyságát egy olyan rendszer kell biztosítsa, mely integrálni képes az új és újabb kutatásokat, fejlesztéseket. A rendszerben zajló kutatások eredményeit a több szakterületen sikerrel alkalmazták már: szénciklus automatikus követése, erdık zöldtömeg termelésének megfigyelése, jéggel borított területek folyamatos nyomon követése már hatékonyan zajlik a rendszerben. Elıadásunkban kitérünk a rendszer elınyeinek és hátrányainak felvázolására, a jelenlegi alkalmazások bemutatására, és a hazai alkalmazási lehetıségek felvázolására. Különös hangsúlyt fektetünk a rendszer szerkezetének bemutatására. Emellett kitekintést nyújtunk az egyéb információs rendszerekhez való kapcsolódási lehetıségekrıl (GeoNetwork, GEOSS).
