A Sárospataki Református Teológiai Akadémia (SRTA) a Magyarországi Református Egyház akkreditált felsőfokú oktatási intézménye. Önálló jogi személy, melynek fenntartója a Tiszáninneni Református Egyházkerület. A (z 1531 ben alapított) Sárospataki Református Kollégium egyik oktatási intézményeként évszázadok óta képez lelkipásztorokat. A Sárospataki Református Kollégium Nagykönyvtára, mely 500 000 kötet is meghaladó állományával Magyarország egyik legnagyobb egyházi gyűjteménye, többszörösen is bizonyítéka az évszázados európai kapcsolatoknak. A beiratkozott hallgatók közül a hátrányos helyzetben lévők szociális ösztöndíjban részesülnek. Azáltal is küzdünk a diszkrimináció minden formája ellen, hogy szociológia, pszichológia és etika kurzusainkon a másik ember pozitív megközelítését tanítjuk. 5 245585IC120081HUERASMUSEUCX1 Imprimé le : 30112007 11:55:53 Soumis le : 30112007 09:49:46
Quality of academic mobility activities: What kind of specific measures are implemented in the institution to ensure highest quality in academic mobility activities? Details should be provided in particular on: recognition and credit systems, the provision of information on curricula, information and counselling of outgoing students, tutoring and integration of incoming students, provision of student services (in particular accommodation), preparatory and refresher language courses, facilitation and acknowledgement of staff mobility. Quality of student placement activities: What kind of specific measures are implemented to ensure high quality in student placements? Give details on how the workprogramme and the placement agreement are prepared and implemented. Please describe the practical arrangements agreed between the parties. Please specify also the monitoring and evaluation of the placement period as well as its recognition in the curriculum.

The Reformed Theological Academy of Sárospatak (SRTA) is an accredited higher education institution of the Reformed Church of Hungary. It is an independent legal body maintained by the Tiszáninnen Reformed Church District. As an academic institution of the Reformed College of Sárospatak (founded in 1531), it has trained ministers for centuries. During the communist regime its functioning was ceased by administrative decree in 1951. After a forty year forced intermission, the Church District restarted the Theological Academy in 1991. The SRTA preserves and carries on an intellectual and spiritual legacy which is built on centuriesold creeds formulated in the European context of the 16th century and on a commitment to the Hungarian nation. The Academy has always functioned in the context of the European academic world. From the 16th century, students wanting to pursue studies at higher levels spent several semesters at Western European academies or universities. Due to this peregrination intense relations were established between Sárospatak and universities all over Europe. The Sárospatak Reformed College Library, one of the largest ecclesiastical collections in Hungary consisting of ca. 500 000 volumes, bears multiple evidence of the European connections throughout the centuries. According to its traditions, the Academy attends to and carries on the spiritual, intellectual and cultural legacy of the Hungarian Reformation and universal Christianity. In order to do so it cooperates with other institutes of higher education, with cultural institutions and with church organisations in Hungary and abroad. Four research institutes of diverse theological disciplines function within the Academy (ChurchSociology Institute; Pedagogical Institute; Christian Philosophy Institute; Mission Research Institute). These institutes intend to work in an international context paying special attention to the European dimension of their fields of research. The Academy regularly welcomes lecturers from abroad and makes these events public. The Academy has its own theological journal (Sárospataki Füzetek) in which summaries or translations of lectures given by foreign speakers are published as well. The teaching of modern languages (English, German, Dutch) is part of the curriculum of the SRTA. Native speakers are involved in the teaching of languages, too. The SRTA intends to improve and formalise existing relations within the context of the Erasmus project and to seek new contacts with European theological institutions. The Academy would like to widen and multiply staff and student mobility in order to strengthen the European identity of students and staff and to provide them with intercultural academic experiences. Through participating in the Erasmus Program the SRTA hopes to become a part of the European university network and to help students and staff to receive information on possibilities of short or longterm scholarships and grants in European universities, and exchange programs between institutions. Erasmus activities will be published on the homepage of the Institute (www.srta.hu) and through the regular channels of communication (notice board, announcements at community events) at the Academy in order to ensure for all students and staff to have free access to any information related to the Erasmus program. Based on its Christian values, our Academy is committed to the fair and equal treatment of all individuals regardless of ethnic or national origin, gender, age, colour, social status or disablement. Enrolled students in socially and economically underprivileged status are supported with special scholarships. We also combat all forms discrimination by means of teaching a positive view of others in our sociology, psychology and ethics courses. What kind of specific measures are implemented in the institution to ensure highest quality in academic mobility activities? Details should be provided in particular on: recognition and credit systems, the provision of information on curricula, information and counselling of outgoing students, tutoring and integration of incoming students, provision of student services (in particular accommodation), preparatory and refresher language courses, facilitation and acknowledgement of staff mobility. The SRTA intends to develop the intensity and to raise the quality of the participation of its students and of its academic staff in the European network of higher education. In order to do so, the Senate of the SRTA has decided to set up the structures of management of the Erasmus affairs and has appointed an institutional Erasmus coordinator and a referent. The Academy will formulate clear regulations and selection procedures for students and staff applying for Erasmus grants. These procedures will include academic criteria and requirements on mastering foreign languages. Outgoing students and staff will be provided with the information needed and the Erasmus coordinator will be available for assistance during the whole period of their study abroad. If necessary, preparatory language courses for outgoing students can be provided for. Courses completed in other European universities will be fully accepted using the ECTS cumulative credit point system; a Credit Transfer Committee functions within the Academy. Incoming Erasmus students will be accompanied by the Erasmus staff during their stay at our campus, offering assistance in practical and academic issues. This assistance can be offered in Hungarian, English, German and Dutch. The whole curriculum of the Academy is available on its homepage and in this way available for incoming students and staff. Courses completed at our Academy will be evaluated according to the ECTS standards, since this is the internal standard at the Academy (since 2002). Cultural and historical introduction to the Hungarian context will be provided for. Initial steps have been made to construct an intensive course (short block for foreign students) on Hungarian Culture and Religion/Theology. The Academy can arrange accommodation for guest professors. The Academy provides lodging possibilities for incoming students on its own campus, providing in this way intercultural exchanges between incoming and resident students. On the long term, the Sárospatak Reformed Theological Academy sees the possibility of international student placements as an enrichment of its training program and as a means to raise the quality of the training program by providing it with a truly international outlook. In organizing the international student placements, the SRTA will build on the existing networks provided by international ecclesiastical bodies. However, the system of student placement programs at this moment is mainly organised internationally in the near European region in which other (ethnic) Hungarian ecclesiastical organisations are present in the neighbouring (partly European) countries. There have been cases when Hungarian speaking ecclesiastical communities outside Hungary asked the Academy to provide them with assistant ministers or youth workers and recognise this work experience as part of the required internship. Other international student placement still has to be developed and a full recognition of the internships in a foreign country has to be planned, thus the placements will be integrated in the training program offered by the SRTA. Among the students there is serious interest in international student placement especially in the social disciplines. Getting acquainted with these disciplines is an integrated part of the Academy s curriculum. Relying on its present experience in coordinating long and short term student placements in the local context, the Academy intends to formulate and realise an effective system for the development, monitoring and evaluation of internships and student placements in the international context. 8 245585IC120081HUERASMUSEUCX1 Imprimé le : 30112007 11:55:53 Soumis le : 30112007 09:49:46
