BP Chimera-Project PopUp - «10 000% - since 2002» retrospektív kiállítás A Chimera-Project berlini, leipzigi és budapesti projekt alapú rezidenciái után február 1-étől letelepszik! Átmeneti bázisunk a Telep első emeletén lesz, a VII. ker. Madách út 8.-ban. A Chimera Project művészeti inkubátorként arra törekszik, hogy növelje a művészek láthatóságát és támogassa a szcéna hálózatosodását a nemzetközi színtéren is. Megközelítésünk interdiszciplináris, a szűken vett művészeti kontextus, white cube határait kutatja hazai és külföldi kiállítások, nemzetközi kollaborációk, workshopok által. A Chimera-Project 2012-es éves programját egy mobil térkoncepcióba ülteti: a 3-5 hónapos időszakokra kialakított terek nemzetközi kiállítások, kollaborációk, workshopok révén a a művészet és a kreatív ipar mobil platformjaként szolgálnak. A Chimera PopUp a Telepen február 9-én este 7 órakor, az «10 000% - since 2002» kiállítással nyílik meg, mely az 1000% kollektíva 10 éves munkásságának szentel egy retrospektív tárlatot. A csoport (Füredi Tamás, Orosz Richárd, Stark Attila, Szabó Balázs, Vörös Krisztián) az első komoly, szinte programszerűen működő budapesti street art csapat és a hazai szcénában is ekként van számon tartva. (ld. METEX - Plágium2000, Utcai nyomhagyás Magyarországon) Az 1000% az «urban art»-ot a diszciplínák halmozásában teremti meg, a legkülönfélébb kontextusokban szimultán operál. A «10 000% - since 2002» kiállítás ezt a komplexitást tükrözi, a látogatókat kaleidoszkóp-szerűen körülvéve a legkülönfélébb médiumokkal. Boldog születésnapot 1000%! 01

Átmeneti bázisunk a Telep első emeletén lesz, a VII. ker. Madách út 8.-ban. A Chimera Project művészeti inkubátorként arra törekszik, hogy növelje a művészek láthatóságát és támogassa a szcéna hálózatosodását a nemzetközi színtéren is. A Chimera-Project PopUp a Chimera Project programjának kibontása egy vagabond kulturális keretben. A PopUp-pal a Chimera eddigi berlini, leipzigi és budapesti projekt alapú rezidenciái után (többet erről most aktív térteremtőként vesz részt Budapesten. Az átmenetiség varázsát és a tér lehetőségeit hangsúlyozza és ünnepli azzal, hogy a Chimera-Project 2012-es éves programját egy mobil térkoncepcióba ülteti. Az megszülető ephemer dokkok 3-5 hónapos időszakokban a művészet és a kreatív ipar mobil platformjaként szolgálnak: nemzetközi kiállítások, kollaborációk, workshopok és közös munkatér révén a helyek a találkozás, teremtés, gondolkodás és a kiállítás tereivé transzformálódnak. Az első Chimera PopUp helyszíne nem véletlenül a Telep: a Chimera és a Telep közti kollaborációk régre nyúlnak vissza, kísérletező, pozitív és nyitott tereket teremtenek, amikben mind szívesen lubickolunk. 02

4 MAGYAR NYELVŰ SAJTÓSZÖVEG / HOSSZÚ «10 000% - since 2002» A Chimera PopUp a Telepen február 9-én, az «10 000% - since 2002» kiállítással nyílik meg, mely az 1000% kollektíva eddigi 10 éves alkotásának szentel egy retrospektív tárlatot. Az 1000% -ot mindannyian ismerjük, közel száz kiállításukon jártunk már. A kollektíva retrospektív kiállításával a Chimera Project mégis egy hiányt pótol: a sokcsatornás alkotást a kurátori figyelem középpontjába állítani, összefüggéseivel és a maga belső dinamikájával és fejlődésével vizsgálni és mutatni meg. A csoport (Füredi Tamás, Orosz Richárd, Stark Attila, Szabó Balázs, Vörös Krisztián) az első komoly, szinte programszerűen működő budapesti street art csapat és a hazai szcénában is ekként van számon tartva. (ld. METEX - Plágium2000, Utcai nyomhagyás Magyarországon) 10 év alatt a szó szoros értelmében elérték azt, amire a street art igényt formál: «reclaim the streets» (az utcák meghódítása). Ugyanakkor a Street Art csak az egyik kifejezési csatornája az 1000% széles repertoárjának óta az 1000% stílusát egyértelműen magukon viselő kreatív outputok gyakorlatilag elárasztották a várost, az embereket mindennapi életükben lepve meg. Művészeti kiállítások a galériák legkülönfélébb súlycsoportjaiban bemutatva, kocsmáktól a Műcsarnokig, megrendelésre vagy illegálisan létrehozott köztéri vagy privát munkák, fesztiválok, események grafikus megjelenése, poszterek, funzinok, magazinok, flyerek - teljes pályás lerohanás a klub és művészeti szcénában. Az 1000% az «urban art»-ot a diszciplínák halmozásában teremti meg, játékosan egyensúlyozva a képzőművészet és a grafikai design között. Ez az igen skizofrén felfogásmód az urban art szcéna egészére nézve tipikus. Ami az 1000%-ot kiemeli az a komplexitás, ahogy a legkülönfélébb kontextusokban szimultán operál. A «10 000% - since 2002» kiállítás ennek a munkásságnak a méltatása, ami a látogatókat kaleidoszkóp-szerűen veszi körül a legkülönfélébb médiumokkal. Boldog születésnapot 1000%! VII Ker. BP INTRODUCTION The Chimera Project PopUp at Telep Retrospective exhibition of the 1000% collective! By tying up with it s last years activities in Budapest, Leipzig and Berlin (see for 2012 the Chimera-Project now wants to expand and show more of its various heads. To make this happen, the people from Telep deliver the Budapest based Project with temporary space. Chimera takes this opportunity to introduce the «Chimera Project PopUp» concept to a broad public. Starting in early february the Chimera-Project literally pops up in the heart of Budapest during a period of four month they friendly occupy the first floor of Telep (Madách út 8.). Up there Chimera-Project transforms bare space into a creative environment: A temporary place to meet & work, think & develop, show & exhibit. The raw structure of a Chimera Project PopUp consists of an exhibition and a separated working-space. Chimera-Project creates platforms for both, art & the creative industries. The Chimera-Project PopUp wants to enable encounters & collaborations, support local creative professionals, invite international artist to put it simple, the PopUp is a platform that wants to make a difference! CHIMERA PROJECT POPUP - EXHIBITION CONCEPT EXHIBITION CONCEPT Some call it urban art The temporary and spatial occupation at Telep acts as active examination of the given environment and its audience. Telep is a melting pot of various subcultural and alternative activities in Budapest this lays a fruitful ground for Chimera-Project s up-andcoming exhibitions. Whether actively involved or positively influenced by (sub)cultures like Graffiti and Street Art, Skateboarding (ect.) and its associated ideas, creative technics & aesthetics, the planned series of exhibitions will confront the audience with art that is rooted in todays urban subcultures some would also just call it «urban art». Patrick Urwyler, art historian and curator says: The virulent label of «urban art» is nothing more than an attempt to describe and subsume an alleged group of artists, that share a common denominator, often poorly described with the adjective «urban». Because of this poor definition confusions, prejudice and generalizations are bound to happen, even more by facing the fact, that «urban art» and its protagonists often perform a balancing act between fine art & design. We do not understand «urban art» as a rigid definition, in its young development nothing is for granted, says Urwyler, who already made several exhibitions dealing with «urban art». Chimera-Project and its exhibition program Chimera-Project is focusing on three exemplary positions in the field of «urban art». Through our program they want to contribute to a serious discussion about «urban art» and its place in the fields of fine art and design. The goal is to show the multilayered ideas and concepts from selected artists from Hungary and abroad. The three exhibitions form three attempts and attitudes that will render «urban art» into something comprehensible, meaningful and reflected. 05

7 5. CHIMERA PROJECT POPUP - EXHIBITION PROGRAM FIRST EXHIBITION % since 2002 February 9. until March Ten years jubilee of the 1000% collective! The first exhibition sets the stage for some of the best known urban artists in town: the 1000% collective. According to the authors of «Street Marrking in Hungary» (METEX - Plágium2000) Attila Stark, Richard Orosz, Tamas Füredi, Balazs Szabo and Krisztian Vörös were the first seriously acting street art group in Budapest. The exhibition «10 000% since 2002» presented by Chimera-Project honors and highlights the work and development of the collective since Within more than 10 years 1000% literally achieved what street art always demands to «reclaim the streets». Although in case of 1000% and Budapest, Street Art was only one creative channel of expression in the wide repertoire of the group. Since 2002 the creative output always performed with 1000 percent style literally covers the city of Budapest and confronts people in their everyday lives: From fine art, exhibited in bars, galleries, the Mücsarnok and other art institutions; over commissioned or illegal works for public & private spaces, festivals and events, to graphic design applied on posters, fanzines and flyers for cultural places and the club scene 1000% simultaneously operates in various contexts and loves to perform the balancing act between the two fields of fine art and (graphic) design. In this sense 1000% define «urban art» as a crossover of disciplines. On the one side this schizophrenic approach reflects a typical attitude of urban art in general. On the other hand the use of multiple channels renders the work of 1000% more complex, so that it easily conquer this «urban cage». The exhibition «10 000% since 2002» honours their oeuvre and surrounds the audience with kaleidoscope-like setting of different works represented by various media a place to dive into, discover and think about urban art made in Budapest by 1000%. SECOND EXHIBITION Tüfujeger-Tour by Yves Lavoyer (CH) March 15. until April 13. Carrying only humble possessions along with a pencil, sketchbook and spray cans in his backpack the «Tüfujeger-Tour» is the story of a swiss artist traveling by bicycle around the globe. Coming home from his artistic journey Yves Lavoyer now send his exhibition on tour. After a first stopover in Zurich at BlamBlamBlam Gallery the exhibition will travel to Budapest! As an integral part of the Tüfujeger-Tour, Lavoyer already left his traces in the Hungarian Capital. By combining urban and rural experiences the «Tüfujeger-Tour» defines «Street Art» in a new way. In the upcoming March Chimera-Project will warmly welcome Lavoyer again and provides him with space where he will set up his exhibition and share his view and thoughts about urban art experienced in various cities, shared with different cultures and lived day by day on the street together with his Bike. more info coming soon.
