Letter from the Director October 1st... Parent Portal Opening! Communications improvements at AISB. Dear Parents, In this week s message I would like to mention the following items: Fall Trips, Welcome Picnic, Technology Update. Fall Trips As a result of the final MS departure this morning we now have a virtually empty MS/HS building, which is somewhat disconcerting! However, all of our fall trips are away and enjoying sunshine as well as the host of very varied activities. The updated information that we have is that everything is going very well on all the trips and according to plan. Welcome Back Picnic. My grateful thanks to the PSA and all the willing helpers for their work in making the Welcome Back picnic such a success. I was delighted to see so many families present enjoying the sunshine, the activities and the conversations. I was especially pleased to see so many new families present and hope that the event did help in your settling in to Budapest and our school community. Thanks again to all who came. Technology Update We hope that you are enjoying new features in our new Information System that include better user names, integrated systems and easier navigation for parents with children in different divisions of the school. We are still in the process of implementing the many features of Veracross and our Web Site, and hope to further simplify the system for students and parents in the weeks ahead. The Middle School will be hosting a parent evening on September 21st and we are working with the PSA to have several morning coffee talks. Dates and times will be available very soon. Every class should have a web site with class information for you and your child Elementary school links can be found on the parent portal on the school web site. (www.aisb.hu). If you sign in at the top right of the page you can find the E.S. tab and there you can find class web pages. Middle and High school web pages will be linked to a teacher s Veracross class page. It can either be found in the introduction or the links section of the web page and both locations are easily navigable. Some links for some classes may not be up yet as teachers prepare for the October 1 launch time. October 1st is the day that the school calendar, school level news and Wednesday Weekly will be easily found on the school web site after you sign in (www.aisb.hu). The Wednesday Weekly will not be emailed after this date. The school goal is to have all communication and important information located in one secure place that is easily accessible for all parents and students. Megnyitjuk a Szülői portált! Kommunikációs fejlesztések az AISB-nél. Kedves Szülők! Ezen a héten az alábbiakról lesz szó: Őszi kirándulások, Családi piknik, Technikai fejlesztések.
Őszi kirándulások Mivel a mai reggel folyamán már a Middle School-os diákjaink is elutaztak, kis híján üres a B épület, ami némileg lehangoló! Szerencsére idén a kirándulóknak megadatott a gyönyörű idő, a sok napsütés, a különféle elfoglaltságok sokasága. Ezzel kapcsolatban a legfrissebb hír az, hogy nincs semmi fennakadás, minden a terveink szerint, rendben alakul. Családi piknik Nagyon hálás vagyok a PSA-nek és az önkénteseknek, akik nélkül a családi piknik nem lett volna ekkora siker! Nagyon örültem, hogy ennyi családot láttam, akik nagyon jól érezték magukat a sok közös tevékenység, a beszélgetések és a vakító napsütés közepette. Különösen nagy öröm volt számomra, hogy mennyi új család jött el idén, nagyon remélem, hogy ez segített beleszokni Budapest, illetve iskolánk környezetébe. Köszönöm a részvételt mindenkinek, aki jelen volt. Technikai fejlesztések Reméljük, hogy az új informatikai rendszerünk nyújtotta előnyök, úgy mint az egyszerűbb felhasználói nevek, az integrált rendszerek és a különböző divíziókba járó gyerekek szülei számára leegyszerűsített navigálás elnyerte tetszésüket. Az elkövetkezendő hetekben is folyamatosan építjük be a Veracross és honlapunk számos funkcióját, (egyebek között) annak reményében, hogy még tovább egyszerűsíthetjük a rendszert a tanulók és a tisztelt Szülők számára egyaránt. Szeptember 21-én tartunk egy rendezvényt a kedves Szülőknek, illetve a Szülői Munkaközösséggel karöltve néhány reggeli kávé melletti megbeszélés szervezésén fáradozunk. Hamarosan tájékoztatni fogjuk Önöket a pontos dátumokról. Minden osztálynak van egy saját oldala az őket érintő iformációkkal, az Elementary School linkjei az iskola Szülői portálján érhetőek el (www.aisb.hu). Ha a honlap jobb felső sarkánál megadják a belépési információkat, megtalálják az E.S. fület, azon belül találhatóak az egyes osztályok honlapjai. A Middle és High school-os osztályok lapjai a tanárok Veracross-os oldalain keresztül hozzáférhetőek. Megtalálható a bemutatkozó résznél, vagy pedig a link-gyűjteményben, mindkét opció felhasználóbarát. Egyes osztályoknál még előfordulhatnak hibás linkek, mivel tanáraink az október 1 - jei indulásra rendezkedtek be. Október elsejével kezdve az iskolai naptár, az iskola hírei, illetve a Wednesday Weekly is a honlapon lesz megtalálható (www.aisb.hu). A Wednesday Weekly-t innentől kezdve nem küldjük meg e-mailben az önök részére. A célunk egy olyan kommunikációs csatorna létrehozása, melyben biztonsággal tarthatunk minden lényeges információt, valamint könnyen hozzáférhető mind a Szülők, minden pedig tanulóink számára. Fontos tudni, hogy a Veracross-rendszer belépési adatai megegyeznek az iskola honlapjához használtakkal (www.aisb.hu). Kívánom a legjobbakat! majority of testing will begin on Tuesday, September 18th. Students will be given notice of their testing day on Monday, September 17th. Nora Fleming, MAP Coordinator ACTIVITIES AND ATHLETICS HOUSING LETTER AISB BOOSTER CLUB TEAM LEADER NEEDED FOR 2012-13 SCHOOL YEAR! Dear AISB Community, AISB is in need of a new Booster Club Team Leader to help organize and guide the booster club in various events that coincide with AISB Sports and Activities for students in grades 6-12. The role of the Booster Club is to support AISB Sports & Activities throughout the year by primarily selling concessions and spirit wear at home events. The Booster Club team leader liaisons with the Athletic Director and Activity Coordinators to organize support initiatives, concessions, and promotion of these programs. WAMP Design Fair OUT AND ABOUT What: For those of you who are not yet familiar with the event, WAMP is a design fair that takes place once a month in the hub of Budapest, where emerging Hungarian designers showcase their work. So if you are looking for an object or gift that is truly different, or just for some unique inspiration, this is the place to go! Towers and palaces, mansions and industrial buildings, breweries and caves that are closed throughout the year are opening their gates on September 16 and 17, calling attention to unique, rare or culturally interesting buildings and locations. What makes visiting the sights of the Cultural Heritage Days even more interesting is that the majority of them are mostly closed to the public in the rest of the year. National Gallop What: National Gallop is an annual cultural event celebrating Hungarian equestrian traditions. It's a horse race reviving Hungarian military history and the famous 'hussar' culture. The center of the event is a national horse race, a spectacular show, where Hungary's towns and villages prove their horse riding skills. The event takes place in Heroes Square, which is turned into a huge racecourse and covered with sand.
